Remove the stems and seeds from the chile ancho and soften them in a pot of simmering water for 10 minutes. This will help the marinade and will come together better. The difference was that I did not marinate the meat. I have used this same recipe for my stove top version of al pastor with no problem. The google search also said that using canned pineapple would be fine to use. The flavor was on point, but I couldn’t get past the texture. Fresh pineapple was my bad move! The fresh pineapple blended into the sauce broke down the meat too much and gave it a chalky(mushy) texture. Did not like the texture! After a quick search on google, I found my answer. Then I noticed the texture of the meat in the center. The tower of marinated pork looked beautiful! After letting the meat rest for a bit, I begin to slice it. I printed my recipe for al pastor so that I could prepare the marinade(recado) for the pork. Now here is where the plot took a big turn! I went into this fully confident that this was going to be delicious. A miniature version of a trompo packed with tasty pork al pastor meat for tacos, right out of my oven! Did I really see my grandfather being driven away in an ambulance when I was four? Or is this a memory I have reconstructed from stories told by my parents?Īlthough this book purports to be science fiction, I didn’t really see any elements of that. It made me think whether there are certain memories of mine that are incorrect, or that I am not remembering correctly. What we actually remember is only an illusion. I really liked the premise of the book: memories are not what they seem. Unfortunately, it is all too real and what the box reveals about his wife’s death will alter his life forever. Upon seeing such memories, Sean is convinced that there is something wrong with the box because nothing is as he had previously remembered it. The memory palace is a box that when plugged into your brain, shows you past memories. After several attempts, Sean finally wins. Every so often (and at random intervals) the widowers compete in a contest to win an undisclosed prize. We meet Sean Whittlesea as he is competing for a prize in his boss’s “widowers club.” Essentially, this is a invitation only exclusive club which is only open to widowers. That reality is not what we remember? I wasn’t too impressed either with the cover image itself. This reference is so obscure, that until the author made reference to it in the last 25% of the book, I had no idea. The title is actually an obscure reference to the fact that in the movie Wizard of Oz, the Scarecrow at some point in the film has a pistol, but that nobody seems to remember this fact. I was under this impression due to the title “Scarecrow Has a Gun.” I was not correct in the slightest. My first impression, having not read the synopsis of the book, was that the book was a mystery / thriller starring a detective. That is to say the result of Math.random() is first coerced into an integer, which will always be 0 and then it's multiplied by 5, which is still 0. You'll always get 0 because casting has higher precedence than multiplication. you type int notSoRandomNumber=(int) Math.random()*5 You see, if you forget a parenthesis, i.e. Yes, this does indeed give a random integer between 0 and 4, but this is very much not the proper way of doing this. int randomNumber=(int) (Math.random()*5) No, casting to int will only work for primitive values, and in Java a String is not a primitive. What about this casting then (int) ? Can we use this to convert a string to an int too ? You cannot pass any other type to the parseInt method or you will get a compiler error. ![]() So does this mean that parseInt() is ONLY to convert String into integer ?Ĭorrect. If you're converting a primitive to an int you can use a cast, if you're converting an Object you'll need to use some sort of conversion method specific to that type.Īlso I made a search and it says parseInt() takes string as an argument. You have to take into account what the type of the value you are converting is. Why two different ways to make a value an int ? Instead, you use a method to parse the String and return the value. Because of this there is no first order language feature for converting a String to an int. "5", "042", and "1,000" all have integer representations, but something like "Hello, World!" does not. Unlike doubles, which by definition can be converted to an integer by dropping the decimal part, Strings can't be easily or consistently converted to an int. The string "5" is not immediately convertible to an integer. Now take a look at the conversion of a String to an int: int value = Integer.parseInt("5") ![]() Basically you can think of casting a double to an int as telling the compiler, "I know this int variable can't hold the decimal part of this double value, but that's ok, just truncate it." By default Java will not allow you to assign a double value to a variable of type int without your explicitly telling the compiler that it's ok to do so. What you're trying to do is assign that value to a variable of type int. Thus the expression Math.random()*5 has a type of double. Math.random returns a double, and when you multiply a double by an int Java considers the result to be a double. Let's take a look at your first example: int randomNumber=(int) (Math.random()*5) Integer.parseInt does not do the same thing as a cast. 8/23/2023 0 Comments Alex smith fracture![]() He also was not playing as well as he had in the past with eight touchdowns to 16 interceptions - a stark difference to his 1984 stats (24 touchdowns, 13 interceptions). Tiananmen Square (440,000 square meters) is another world-famous landmark of Beijing. For nearly 500 years, Chinese emperors came here during every winter solstice to bring generous gifts to Heaven after 3 days of strict fasting. According to the Chinese tradition, the circle symbolizes Heaven, and the square symbolizes the forces of the Earth. In 1987, the Forbidden City was the first of all landmarks of China to be added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. Only in the early 20 th century did the city open its doors to foreign guests.
